Heartwarming footage has emereged showing the moment a two-year-old pup was reunited with his family after being snatched during an alleged robbery.
Moe the Cavoodle had been inside his family’s black Mercedes as his owner’s popped into a store in Melbourne’s southeast on Wednesday morning.
Moments later two men got into the vehicle just after 7.30am and fled the scene with him inside.
The men were allegedly driving a white BMW believed to be linked to the stolen Mercedes and were later involved in a collision at 11.45am on Dorothea Mackellar Ave in Oakleigh East, about 15km away from the site of Moe’s abduction.
Police believe the duo fled the scene on foot before they were later arrested on Macrina St nearby.
A 20-year-old man from The Basin and a 25-year-old Ashwood man have been charged with two counts of theft of motor vehicle and other offences, with both scheduled to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
There were emotional scenes at Box Hill Police Station on Wednesday night as Moe was finally reunited with his family 24 hours after his ordeal began.
Family members were seen scooping him tearfully into their arms.
A relieved-looking Moe appeared eager to get home, pulling at his lead and wagging his tail.
The Mercedes, a 2017 C250 Mercedes Station wagon with roof racks and registration VBG 946, is still unaccounted for.
Police are urging any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.
