Gunplay Talks About Fight With 50 Cent And His Security Guards

May 2024 · 3 minute read

Reports and even a video are circulating of MMG rapper Gunplay being involved in an altercation and then eventually getting pepper-sprayed.  The Floridian rapper went on Power 105 to answer some questions, and although he only mentions him by name once, says he got into a scrap with 50 Cent’s security team and was jumped by them.

A raspy-voiced Gunplay called into Power 105 to give his version of what happened and answer questions of whether he was actually punched in the face, robbed of a chain and pepper sprayed.  Not wanting to mention 50 Cent’s name, Gunplay kept referring to him as “donkey”:  “First of all, I ain’t gonna say the ‘donkeys’ name...I was getting ready to go catch my ride, police told me I couldn’t leave the trailers.”

Feeling cornered and not wanting to run, Gunplay decided to take on 50 and his security guards, “I turn around I see the donkey with eight more donkeys.  It was either me jump the barrier and run, or stand, pull up my pants and knuckle it out.”

Everything seemed to happen and escalate quickly, and the Miami rapper doesn’t quite recall who pulled out the pepper spray, “We rumbling rumbling...I kinda lost my footing...then the pepper spray came.” Asked if it was the police who use the spray, he responded, “ They all cops, so who knows...they all running with 50...Man got security with him man.”

Some reports say Gunplay was robbed of his chain, but he doesn’t even remember where in the scuffle it got lost, “I don’t know what happened to the chain...the hell with it”.   When the police arrived, he was put in cuffs, but no charges were laid against him.

Talking about how the beef with 50 Cent all started, Gunplay says there was no previous tension, “I ain’t never had a problem with dog,” and adds, “If that woulda been Miami, everybody woulda been laid out.” Discussing if the beef will continue, and if there is a “green light” if 50 and G-Unit comes through Miami, Gunplay simply added “no comment”.

With all the altercations making headlines, BET has released a statement apologizing to the public but carefully do not mention any specific names (via MTV):  “BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place.  BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."
